Tragic Car Crash: 5 Year-Old Boy, Stepdad Killed

Mathieu Russie, 29, and his stepson Keron Mardaymootoo, aged five, tragically lost their lives in an accident on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25, 2024.

The car driven by the young man veered off the road violently on the highway near Mapou heading north, ending its course against a palm tree.

His son Deonsley Russie, also five years old, was on board, as well as his partner Marie-Joyce Mardaymootoo, 29, who is also the mother of little Keron. The young woman was seriously injured and was admitted to the SSRN hospital in Pamplemousses.

As of Sunday evening, her doctors considered her condition to be stable. As for the boy, he had some injuries and was allowed to return home after receiving treatment.
