The turnover of Phoenix Beverages Ltd, the island’s main producer and distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, for the half-year ending on December 31st last year has increased by 16%, rising from Rs 5.4 billion to Rs 6.3 billion.

The group’s profits stand at Rs 637.4 million, compared to Rs 405.5 million for the corresponding period in the previous financial year.

The sales volume of beverages in Mauritius and Reunion for the six-month period has increased by 9.2% and 6.1% respectively compared to 2022.

The turnover of operations in Reunion has risen from Rs 711.5 million to Rs 942.4 million.

The profitability of the Reunion activities has increased from Rs 44 million to Rs 125 million.

The distribution partnership concluded in January 2023 with Pernod-Ricard and the increase in export volume were the main factors contributing to this improvement in results.

In line with its regional expansion strategy, PBL acquired, in October 2023, a 28% stake in a young beverage company operating in Kenya, African Originals Ltd.
