686 Cases, 444 Active: Blood Donors Urgently Needed for Dengue Fight

As of 9th February, Mauritius has recorded 686 cases of dengue, with 444 currently active. The Ministry of Health is urging the public to take quick actions and precautions to contain the ongoing epidemic.

Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal is calling on anyone experiencing symptoms to seek immediate examination at a health centre.

The president of the Blood Donors’ Association (BDA), Dewanand Hossen has issued a plea for blood donations due to a shortage caused by disrupted blood drives.

He highlighted the dangers of dengue and the need for blood platelets for patients and emphasized the importance of the Apheresis method for platelet donation.

The BDA provided contact numbers for those interested in donating blood. Regular blood donation campaigns will be organized to support the initiative.

It is crucial for Mauritians to come forward and donate blood to help those affected by dengue.

The situation requires active collaboration and communication from the public to combat the epidemic.
