Mauritius Rejects Qatar Airways, Madagascar Opens Arms for 1st Flight

Qatar Airways, which has been seeking to operate in Mauritius for years but has never obtained permission, has been given the green light to launch daily flights to Madagascar.

An agreement was signed last week between the Qataris and the Malagasy.

Qatar Airways will become the first airline to operate on this route, contributing to the development of tourism in Madagascar.

It was voted the second-best airline in the world in 2023. Mauritius is banking on Emirates, Qatar Airways’ main competitor. Emirates is, after Air Mauritius, the largest transporter of tourists to Mauritius.
