Air Mauritius Set to Soar with Durban Flights

Air Mauritius has confirmed plans to reintroduce flights between Durban and the island of Mauritius. The airline previously operated this route and provided convenient connections to India.

Although facing challenges, Air Mauritius aims to return to normal operations by the end of the year. Restoration of schedules and fleet maintenance are among the airline’s priorities for 2024.

While waiting for the delivery of additional aircraft, Air Mauritius will lease planes to ensure sufficient capacity on its routes.

The Durban route, popular among communities with Indian heritage, is expected to benefit both locals and foreigners, as Mauritius is highly favored by South Africans.

Currently, direct flights to Mauritius are only available from Johannesburg and Cape Town.

South African Airways and FlySafair also offer direct flights from their Johannesburg hubs, but there are no direct flights between Durban and Mauritius at present.
