Controversial Rs7Million contract leads to resignations at CWA

Two senior officials, including the Procurement Manager and Board Secretary, have reportedly resigned from the Central Water Authority (CWA) due to the controversy surrounding a recent Rs 7 million contract for hiring labour.

The exercise saw the participation of only two companies, both of which were allegedly connected through proxy names.

Le Mauricien newspaper reported that this issue has smeared the CWA’s management, and the resigning officials had opposed certain instructions.

The frequent visits of a close collaborator of a political leader to the CWA premises in St. Paul, and his proximity to the boss, were reportedly already a subject of discussion before this scandal.
