Rama Valayden, the leader of the Avengers group, has reportedly stated that the Republic of Mauritius has lost jurisdiction over the island of Agalega due to the construction of a runway, funded by India.

The group has sought clarification from the Indian High Commission in Mauritius regarding the matter.

Valayden asserts that the Mauritian Police and Coast Guard have no business in the northern part of Agalega and that residents face restricted access to certain areas starting from December 15.

He criticizes the current government’s handling of the situation, stating that Mauritius has lost its jurisdiction over Agalega under the Premiership of Pravind Jugnauth.

The Avengers have also reached out to India’s Congress Party for support on the issue of territorial integrity.

Valayden has has also voiced concerns over the lack of attention given to the Tromelin Island dispute by some quarters.
