Almost 4 out of 10 accountants in Mauritius want to quit their job over next 12 months

Almost four out of every 10 employees in accounting and finance are thinking of quitting their current job in the next 12 months, according to the ACCA Talent Trends Survey 2023.

The survey was conducted among 8,000 chartered accounts in 148 countries – including Mauritius.

Globally, 25% of ACCA members intend to find another job in the 12 months, compared to 35% in Mauritius.

Another 25% of Mauritian accountants intend to quit in the next two years.

Burnout

Some 67% of Mauritians said their employers were inclusive, but 64% said they had concerns over ‘burn-out’ – and hoped from more support from their employers with regards to their psychological wellbeing.

Responding to the survey, Madhavi Ramdin-Clark, Head of ACCA Mauritius and New Markets, said that a thriving economy will need a rising generation of talent to be attracted to the accounting profession.

“The Global Talent Trends Survey is a way of hearing the voices of those working in the accounting and finance sectors in Mauritius, and to provoke managers and decision-makers to create the right professional environment for these future talents,” she was cited as saying.
