Political activist Bruneau Laurette has given a stern warning to his detractors. The activist Bruneau Laurette, who has been released on bail by the Moka Court on Monday 27 February, has told reporters outside the courtroom that “the fight continues”, and he will also change the system.

“The job starts now. Mark my word. Before, I only shook the system, now I’ll uproot it”,  he hammered, as he was cheered by hundreds of supporters gathered outside court.

The release on bail was marked by intense joy – Laurette rushed to embrace his partner, Dominique Raya, and children as police officers were taking him away to pay his bail of Rs 2 million.

Earlier, representatives of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mᵉˢ Yakrajsingh Ramsohok and Krishan Beeharry, informed Magistrate Jade Ngan Chai King that the Office of the DPP would not appeal against the bail granted to the activist.

The activist had been in jail since his arrest on 4 November following a controversial raid that led to the discovery of drugs and weapons.
