The former CEO of Mauritius Telecom, Sherry Singh has launched his “socio-political” platform – One Moris (One Mauritius), to mark his comeback to public life after months of silence.

Singh, who had been said to be very close to Prime Minister and MSM leader Pravind Jugnauth and his family, resigned last year over the sniffing scandal at MT, said he undertook a “political pilgrimage” around the island during which he discovered the challenges of the average Mauritian families.

“We have to look for short and long term solutions. Many families no longer have enough to eat, others don’t have access to water for weeks, but there is also the problems of drugs. Everything looks so hard. A good part of the population has lost hope and young people are leaving the country”.

He listed some of his visions, including unity, positive energy and working on how to move forward by measuring the consequences.

Sherry Singh said One Moris will turn into a political party if it attracts enough people to transform the country.

The three colours used in the One Moris logo are blue, red and white. Sherry Singh explained that these colours were chosen to bring people together and create national unity. Blue represents the PMSD, red – Labour Party and white, the…MSM.

However, the launch and new logo was criticised in several quarters.
