Expats in Mauritius entitled to CSG Income Allowance for one year

Expatriate employees and self-employed Individuals in Mauritius will benefit from the CSG Income Allowance of Rs 1000, announced by the Government. This monthly Income Allowance will be paid to eligible workers for the months of July 2022 to June 2023, and one additional month as bonus in December 2022, by the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA).

According MRA, in order to benefit from the monthly CSG Income Allowance of Rs 1000, expatriates should meet the following criteria:

Expatriate Employees

  • Expatriate employees should have paid their social contributions for the month of May 2022 and subsequent months
  • Their monthly taxable emoluments should not exceed Rs 50,000.

Expatriate Self-employed Individuals

  • Expatriate Self-employed Individuals should be registered at the MRA for the social contributions by 07 June 2022,
  • They should have paid their social contributions for the month of May 2022 and subsequent months, and
  • Their monthly total net income should not exceed Rs 50,000.

How can Expatriates benefit from the CSG Income Allowance?

The Non-citizen individuals must use their NCID number, that is their Non-Citizen ID. To enable MRA to effect payment of the allowance, eligible Expatriate Employees and Self-employed Individuals should provide their bank account number using the facility available on the MRA website: www.mra.mu

Their bank accounts will be directly credited with the income allowance of Rs 1000 if they meet the eligibility criteria.
