Lawyer under scrutiny over controversial video

Lawyer Rama Valayden is reportedly being probed over a video gone viral in which he is said to have called to organise protests around the island.

Commenting the video, Valayden said the video that is circulating is an edited version that is meant to cause harm.

Even if his name was not directly mentioned, recent statements by  Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and Deputy Prime Minister Steven Obeegadoo suggested that the ‘instigators’ of Friday’s protests were linked to those of 1999 riots.

Valayden was alleged to have been linked to those riots but did not face any formal investigation or trial.
