Letter to PM: Govt Workers Demand Pay Hike After Minimum Wage
The State Employees and Other Unions (SOEF) has written a letter to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, urging him to expedite salary adjustments for public servants following the implementation of the new minimum wage in January.
In the letter, the SOEF president, Radhakrishna Sadien, requested that the Prime Minister propose to the Public Relations Board (PRB) to use the Master Salary Conversion Table as a guideline to speed up the process.
According to Sadien, using the Master Salary Conversion Table in the PRB Reports 2021 would simplify the issue of distortion, which is limited to wages only.
The table provided a framework for adjusting salaries based on the new minimum wage, making it easier to resolve the issue quickly and fairly.
In essence, the SOEF is calling on the government to use a established procedure to ensure that public servants receive their salary adjustments as soon as possible.
The union’s move is aimed at addressing the financial concerns of its members and ensuring that they receive fair compensation for their work.
