70 km/h Winds: Anticyclone Brings Breezy Chills to Mauritius

An anticyclone located south of the Mascarene Islands is bringing strong winds and cold weather to the region, according to the local weather station’s morning bulletin.

Wind speeds are ranging from 20 to 30 km/h from the southeast, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h in some areas.

The public is advised to avoid rooftop activities and to exercise caution on the roads due to crosswinds.

The sea is rough beyond the reefs with waves reaching up to 3 meters high. Boating activities in open sea, as well as in the eastern and southern lagoons, are not recommended.

The weather is partly cloudy early in the morning with occasional showers on windward slopes and the central plateau.

It will mostly be sunny throughout the day, although light showers are expected in higher elevations.
