Heavy rains on Sunday, April 21st caused major flooding across the island of Mauritius.

Regions such as the West, Southwest, and even the Northwest were affected, including areas like Bambous, Geoffroy, Grande-Rivière Nord-Ouest, and Port-Louis.

The entire island experienced significant rainfall. In the capital, several streets were submerged, including La Chaussée, John Kennedy, and St-Denis, which saw high water levels.

According to the Vacoas meteorological station, Albion received the highest amount of rainfall, with 195 mm, followed closely by Domaine Les Pailles with 139 mm.

Response teams have been deployed throughout the island, assisting those trapped by the flooding.
