The newly appointed Egyptian ambassador to Mauritius, Abir Alam Eldin, recently paid a courtesy visit to the CEO of the Economic Development Board, Ken Poonoosamy, with the aim of strengthening investment and trade between the two countries.

During the meeting, Eldin proposed the establishment of a working group in collaboration with the EDB to set a framework for accelerating engagement and collaboration between Egypt and Mauritius.

Poonoosamy highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two countries and reaffirmed the EDB’s commitment to further facilitate investment, trade, and business, as well as strengthen collaboration in mutually beneficial areas.

He also noted that the memorandum of understanding to be signed with GAFI, the Egyptian counterpart of the EDB, will help unlock investment and trade opportunities between Mauritius and Egypt.
