Heavy Rain Hits Mauritius Overnight, 72mm Recorded
A Heavy Rain warning bulletin for Mauritius has been issued, cautioning residents of moderate to heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms over the island.
The warning, issued at 17:30 on Sunday 31 March 2024, is valid until Monday 01 April 2024 at 04:00.
In the past 3 hours, 72 mm of rain has been recorded in the region of Bois Mangues, while 46 mm has been recorded in the region of Mon Loisir Sugar Estate.
Additionally, active clouds from the northwest may continue to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the night and into tomorrow morning.
As a result, the public is advised to stay in safe places, avoid open areas, hikes, sea ventures, and sheltering under trees.
Areas prone to water accumulation should also be avoided, and extra caution should be taken on the roads due to reduced visibility caused by heavy rain and fog patches.
The Mauritius Meteorological Services are closely monitoring the situation and will update the bulletin as needed based on evolving weather conditions.
Residents are urged to stay alert and consult future bulletins for further information.
