Vikram Hurdoyal expressed his surprise and desire to step back from politics following his dismissal as Minister of Agro-Industry. His comments were made at SSR airport upon returning from a trip.

He mentioned having no issue with the government but wanted to know the reason behind his dismissal. The news of his removal came as a shock to him as he was on his way to visit family in France.

Despite feeling sad about the situation, he had projects left to complete in his role. The Vice President of the Republic, Eddy Boissezon, confirmed the dismissal and announced new ministerial appointments within the MSM party. Hurdoyal learned about his dismissal through a WhatsApp message on his phone.

He cited having no clear reason for his dismissal and expressed surprise at this decision. While he still praised the Prime Minister and his government colleagues, he denied any association with opposition figure Navin Ramgoolam.

The former Minister’s emotional response indicated his reluctance to continue in politics after the incident. “I prefer to have peace, I prefer to go back to my fields to plant, but there is no way I will go back to politics after this!” declared Vikram Hurdoyal, his voice trembling and taking a moment to wipe his eyes.
