The Crime Intelligence Unit of the Western Division made two arrests following a complaint from a resident of Chemin-Grenier. A 33-year-old woman alleges she was tied up, raped at knifepoint in Le Morne, and robbed.

She had responded to an ad on Facebook for a therapist job in Quatre-Bornes. The ad was posted by someone named Emily Ryan, who later messaged her about a job at Seaface Relaxing Spa in Le Morne.

The woman met a man at the agreed location near a football field, who led her to a forest trail. The man produced a knife, tied her to a tree, and stole her belongings. He then allegedly raped her.

The victim later told police about the incident. CIU officers conducted surveillance in La Gaulette and arrested a 32-year-old mason named Moheshwar Souky, who confessed to the crime. Another suspect, Clyde Louis Brigitte, a 40-year-old welder, was also arrested.

Brigitte admitted to taking part in the robbery but denied the rape allegation. He had been wanted by Grand-Port police since 2021. Both suspects appeared in court on Monday, February 12.
