Mauritius Minister Accused of Slapping Associate Over Text Message

A complaint for assault has been filed by a resident of Goodlands against the Minister of Public Service, Anjiv Ramdhany.

In his complaint, a close associate of the minister explained that on Friday 9th February, the minister, accompanied by two police officers, allegedly arrived at his home in Bois-Rouge to assault him.

The 39-year-old civil servant claimed that the minister himself had slapped him repeatedly. According to the alleged victim, after the assault, Anjiv Ramdhany and the police officers got into their vehicles and left the scene.

The aggression is said to have been sparked by a message the man in his thirties had sent to the minister stating, “You’re only doing it for your own benefit and that of your family”.
