Fuels: 4.1% decrease in petrol prices as of 28th January. The State Trading Corporation’s Petroleum Pricing Committee (PPC) met on Saturday 27th January 2024 and recommended a 4.1% reduction in the retail price of Mogas (petrol).

This means the price of petrol will now be Rs 66.20 per litre, down from Rs 69.00, while the price of diesel will remain unchanged.

The Committee took into account the global price trends of Mogas and Gas Oil, as well as the Rs 4.5 billion deficit in the Gas Oil Price Stabilisation Account (PSA).

In accordance with regulations, due to the Gas Oil PSA being in deficit, there will be no decrease in the retail price of diesel, which will stay at Rs 63.95 per litre.
