Severe Swell Alert. Sun, 28th January 2024. A severe swell alert has been issued for Mauritius on Sunday 28th January 2024 at 10:00, and will be valid until Monday 29th January 2024 at 04:00.

The warning for heavy swells remains in place for Mauritius, with swells reaching up to 4 metres causing rough to very rough seas beyond the reefs.

Reports show wave heights of approximately 4 metres in the southern part of the island on Saturday 27th January 2024.

These intense swells may result in waves breaking on the beaches during high tides.

As a result, fishermen, pleasure-craft users and the general public are strongly advised to avoid venturing out to sea and staying away from the beaches during high tides.

It is anticipated that the heavy swells will gradually subside starting from tonight.
