A 32-year-old teacher in Grand-Baie, Mauritius, made a shocking discovery of Rs3.2million worth of cannabis weighing 2.7 kilograms hidden in a parcel of black rice from Thailand.

The teacher reported the finding to the police herself after opening the package, which was initially expected to contain black rice and coffee but included suspicious items.

The Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) is investigating the importation, and the teacher is said to be cooperating with the authorities.

Superintendent Boodhun ordered her release pending further investigation, and the police plan to approach the logistics company involved in the delivery.
