Dengue Fever Outbreak: Mauritius records 10 New Cases in 24 Hours

Health officials in Mauritius have reported a shocking surge of around ten cases of dengue fever in the past 24 hours.

They are reportedly working hard to stop the disease from spreading further, especially in the Port Louis and northern regions of the country.

To tackle the problem, they will be doing more fumigation to get rid of mosquitoes carrying the virus.

The situation is being closely monitored, and the rapid spread of the disease is a cause for concern.

Most of the people who tested positive live in areas like Pamplemousses, Baie-du-Tombeau, Cassis, and Rivière-Noire.

It is said to be a worryingly high number for such a short period of time.

Local authorities have asked municipal employees and district council workers to help with operations like spraying to kill mosquito larvae and fumigation to get rid of mosquitoes.

The public is urged to follow the authorities’ instructions, such as cleaning up their surroundings and getting rid of stagnant water from containers and clearing overgrown land.

Rumors of cholera cases in the country have been categorically denied by the Ministry of Health.

In Rodrigues, sixteen cases of dengue fever have been reported since the start of the year.
