Ministries Slammed for Neglecting Health and Safety, Hiding information

The Ministry of Labour has criticised certain ministries and government departments for being careless and concealing information regarding health and safety in the workplace.

A circular from the Ministry of Public Service reminds these departments of their obligations under the 2005 Occupational Safety and Health Act, specifically the need to maintain accurate records related to health and safety.

The circular emphasizes the importance of these records for incident monitoring, documentation retention, and compliance with regulations.

Supervisors are reminded to keep specific records and make them available for inspection by health and safety representatives.

The Ministry of Labour highlights the necessity of this obligation in ensuring compliance with standards and maintaining a safe working environment.

Additionally, supervisors are requested to have copies of the Compliance Certificate for personal protective equipment available during inspections.

The law requires heads of ministries and government departments to maintain 33 documents related to health and safety, including fire certificates, accident and injury reports, and machinery records.
