Multiple Storms set to shake Rodrigues and Mauritius

Weather Update issued at 14:00 on Friday 19th January: Multiple areas of low pressure are forming within the active Monsoon trough situated at 15 degrees south in the South-West Indian Ocean.

One particular tropical low, located to the northeast of Rodrigues, is anticipated to further develop by Sunday 21st January.

According to model forecasts, this tropical low is expected to gain strength and move between Rodrigues and Mauritius.

Unstable atmospheric conditions are forecasted to prevail in the vicinity of Rodrigues starting from Sunday 21st January 2024.

It is important to note that there is considerable uncertainty regarding both the track and intensity of this system.
