Here’s Some Good News: Your Salary Likely To Go Up Again

Civil servants and private sector workers are expected to receive further salary increases following the previous compensation ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000.

With the minimum wage now at Rs 15,000 per month, two reports are being developed.

The Wage Consultative Council, chaired by Bijaye Kumar Appanah, is preparing a report for the private sector, while the Pay Research Bureau (PRB) is working on a report for the civil service.

The private sector report, focusing on salary relativity, is expected to be completed by March 2024, while the PRB report for the public sector must be ready in the first half of 2024.

The reports will include new salary scales for over 30 sectors, and readjustments will be made at all levels to maintain salary relativity.

The PRB report is separate from the regular five-year salary review in the public sector, which is scheduled for implementation in January 2026.

Trade union federations have been invited to submit proposals to the PRB by October 2, 2023, for the 2025 report.

It should be noted that in anticipation of the PRB report, the government granted a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to civil servants starting from January 2020.
