Minister’s WhatsApp Posts Spark Speculation of Resignation
Agriculture Minister Vikram Hurdoyal’s recent WhatsApp posts has sparked speculations that he may be considering leaving his position after 11 years representing constituency number 10.
These posts are believed to be connected to the recent revocation of his protege, the Chairman of the Flacq District Council.
In the post that has gone viral, the Minister reflected on his time in office and expressed the need for a fresh start.
According to l’Express, he had even submitted his resignation but took it back after meeting with Prime Minister and MSM leader, Pravind Jugnauth.
However, responded to media queries, the Minister referred to the posts as a mistake and his press attaché denied any plans for resignation.
MSM ruling party insiders downplayed the significance of the statement, stating that it was a year-end message.
However, the minister is internally being accused of political betrayal against the MSM, causing political unrest in Flacq/Bon Accueil (No 9) and Montagne-Blanche/Grande-Rivière-Sud-Est (No 10).
He is reportedly being closely monitored by the Prime Minister.
