PM thanks countries supportive of Mauritius
Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has expressed his gratitude towards supportive countries during a dinner with the diplomatic corps.
He thanked these countries for their support in Mauritius’ fight for the Chagos, highlighting the violation of international law in the separation of the archipelago.
The PM also discussed the complex international context, including ongoing conflicts and the need for sustainable economic returns.
He emphasised the importance of finding collective responses to global challenges based on international law.
Additionally, he expressed his desire for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and addressed the challenges faced by small island states like Mauritius, including food security, Sustainable Development Goals, and the dangers of climate change.
The PM stressed the necessity for small states like Mauritius to contribute to the global process of addressing climate change and highlighted the importance of access to concessional financing.
