The police have fined no less than 1,700 drivers in various regions of the country for various offences in the past 24 hours.

A total of 6,000 motorists have been subjected to checks. Speeding remained the most frequently observed offence.

Thus, the police have fined 97 motorists for speeding. The operation also revealed that nine drivers tested positive for alcohol.

Furthermore, four drivers tested positive for drugs. Twenty-five motorists had their vehicles immobilised.
