Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has stated that general elections in Mauritius will take place after the completion of the government’s mandate.

While the current mandate ends in November 2024, Jugnauth mentioned that elections could potentially be held in 2025.

He expressed disappointment in the opposition’s boycott of the parliamentary session, highlighting their absence during the presentation of the Electoral Boundaries Commission (EBC) report.

Jugnauth commended the EBC for their work and defended the independence of institutions, criticising the opposition for unfairly questioning their credibility without evidence.
