Resistans ek Alternativ has once again reached out to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

In a letter sent to the international organization, Ashok Subron, spokesperson for Resistans ek Alternativ, strongly accuses the Mauritian government of neglecting the Human Rights Convention.

According to Subron, with less than a year remaining in Pravind Jugnauth’s government term, no steps have been taken to comply with the UN’s recommendations made as early as 2012.

The requirement for candidates to declare their ethnic affiliation in order to participate in elections is a concerning issue, casting doubts on Resistans ek Alternativ’s future participation in upcoming elections.

This situation echoes the scenario in 2019.

Subron emphasized the urgent need for government action, calling on them to present a mini-amendment by the Independence Day in March.
