Ex-MSM Minister Dinesh Ramjuttun’s former megaproject in Pointe-aux-Canonniers has obtained its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit after two years of examination.

The project, which includes a hotel, villas, apartments, and a shopping centre, has been in the works for twenty years.

The new promoters, who have acquired the project shares, aim to complete it within five years.

The project had faced previous setbacks due to financial difficulties and legal complications, but negotiations with the Mauritian government allowed the Ramjuttun family to regain the lease.

The developer hopes to meet the market demand for luxury projects and attract local and foreign investors.

The plot of land where the project is planned made headlines in 2021, following the discovery of 243 kilograms of heroin and 27 kilograms of hashish valued at Rs 3.7 billion.
