Alliance Shattered: En Avant Moris Divorces Reform Party
In a press conference on 7th December, Patrick Belcourt confirmed the dissolution of the alliance between his party, En Avant Moris, and the Reform Party led by Roshi Bhadain.
Belcourt stated that the two opposition parties will no longer work together, citing opposing perspectives and a lack of consideration from the Reform Party towards En Avant Moris as the reasons for the split.
Belcourt expressed that their alliance was not a successful partnership and likened it to a failed marriage.
He urged against negative criticism of the Reform Party and Bhadain, stating that he wished Bhadain moderation in the future.
The alliance between the Reform Party and En Avant Moris was formalized in a press briefing in April, with the aim of collaborating in the upcoming legislative elections.
However, tensions and disagreements within the alliance have been escalating in recent weeks, leading to the confirmation of the divorce during the press conference.
The dissolution of this alliance marks a significant development in Mauritius’ political landscape, leaving both En Avant Moris and the Reform Party to navigate their respective paths independently.
