Electoral Redistricting: Belle-Rose/Quatre-Bornes Emerges as Largest Constituency

The Electoral Boundaries Commission has recommended several changes to the electoral districts in Mauritius.

These include the inclusion of the Chagos Archipelago in the Grande-Rivière-Nord-Ouest and Port-Louis Ouest constituency.

Additionally, Belle-Rose/Quatre-Bornes will become the largest constituency, surpassing Pamplemousses/Triolet and Savanne/Rivière-Noire.

Port-Louis Sud/Port-Louis Central remains the smallest, with just under 30,000 voters.

The report also outlines the reallocation of voters and gives specific details about the changes in various districts.

The resolution for these changes will be presented to the National Assembly and must be adopted without debate.

The Electoral Boundaries Commission’s recommendations will be either implemented in full or rejected.
