The country is in shock after the remains of Mike Jean-Lise, a 39-year-old fisherman from Bambous-Virieux, were found not far from Flamants Island, on the east coast of Mauritius.

According to reports, the fisherman was together with four other people on a pirogue when it capsized on Thursday.

The passengers managed to swim to the shore, but Jean-Lise was reportedly attacked by a shark.

Officers of the National Coast Guard reported that they had a tough time to scare the shark away in order to remove the victim’s remains from the water.
