Police have reportedly initiated two investigations for illegal assembly in front of the Parliament on Tuesday by members of Linion Pep Morisien and opposition MPs.
The investigations follow two complaints reportedly filed by a senior police officer. According to the Public Gathering Act, no gathering is allowed in Port-Louis during Parliamentary sittings.

The Linion Pep Morisien members were protesting against the presence of former minister Yogida Sawmynaden at the National Assembly. The ex-Minister’s name was mentioned in the report of the judicial inquiry into the murder of ex-MSM agent Soopramanien Kistnen.
Opposition MPs had also gathered outside Parliament in support for three Labour Party MPs who are currently suspended: Shakeel Mohamed, Patrick Assirvaden and Mahend Gungapersad.
LPM spokesperson Dev Sunnassy reacted by claiming the gathering was not illegal as there were less than 12 people in front of Parliament.
The widow of Soopramanien Kistnen, who was present at the demonstration, called for the conclusions of the judicial inquiry be made public.
