Labour MP reiterates allegiance to party after meeting Ramgoolam

Labour MP Osman Mahomed has finally come out of his silence to reiterate his allegiance to his party.

The elected Member of Parliament of Constituency No 2 (Port-Louis South/Port-Louis Centre) hit the headlines after rumours became rife that he was no longer at ease within his party.

The rumours were further fuelled after he was pictured, all smiling, with MSM Agriculture Minister and Secretary General Maneesh Gobin as well as PMO’s Senior Adviser Zouberr Joomaye.

This came only days after the resignation of his Constituency Alert,  Sheik Mukhtar Hossenboccus. The latter resigned from the party after 35 years.

On his Facebook page, Mahomed said: “I must say, contrary to speculations, it was never said that I would leave the Labour Party. I am a Labourite!” The message came after a one-hour meeting with Ramgoolam, with whom he had “frank discussions.”

“We agreed that the most important thing is to win the next elections.”
