Telecom services restored, outage allegedly linked to Huawei equipment

Mauritius Telecom services are reportedly back online for most customers in Ebene, Rose-Hill, Quatre Bornes, Pailles, St-Pierre, Phoenix and Vacoas after a daylong outage at the telecom giant on Tuesday.

The blackout reportedly left thousands without internet and cellular service, while also disrupting government services, businesses (including BPOs) and payment systems.

Besides an earlier press release from my.t announcing a technical issue on the network, the operator has not given an explanation or how many customers were affected.

L’Express reported that, according to its sources, the problem was caused by faulty Huawei equipment.

However, Mauritius Telecom had reportedly not yet confirmed the claim.
