MBC TV edits out part of Transparency Mauritius' video on 'Whistleblowing'

After being accused of censorship by Catholic Church’s Cardinal Maurice Piat, the State-owned MBC TV has now come under fire again.

The national broadcaster reportedly refused to broadcast a video of Transparency Mauritius (TM) on Whistleblowing in its original format lasting 47 seconds.

According to TM Executive Director Rajen Bablee, the MBC demanded to edit out 7 seconds of the video mentioning the fear of retaliation against whistleblowers.

TM is said to have refused.

“We asked about the logic behind this. We also asked if that part of the video contained any image or phrase that MBC perceived to be illegal, unethical or against MBC values,” Bablee told Defi Media.

The MBC reportedly did not respond.
