Portugal envoy presents Letters of Credence to Mauritius President

The Ambassador-designate of Portugal to Mauritius with residence in Mozambique, Mr António Costa Moura, has presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Consul general of Portugal in Maputo and the Honorary Consul of Portugal in Mauritius.  

The Ambassador underlined that Mauritius, like Portugal, is a maritime nation and as such, discussions focussed on avenues of cooperation in maritime security as well as the blue economy sectors.

The Ambassador is a former member of the Portuguese Government and served as Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Minister of Justice.

Prior to his current appointment as Ambassador in Mozambique in March 2021, Mr António Costa Moura was Portugal’s diplomatic representative in the Republic of Finland and in the Republic of Estonia.

He is a law graduate and has post-graduate qualifications in European Studies (Law) and in Information Sciences.
