In a daring operation, officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section of the Mauritius Revenue Authority have made a significant drug bust at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

The authorities discovered a staggering 903 grams of hashish, estimated to be worth around Rs 4.5 million, hidden inside a piano.

The shipment arrived in Mauritius on a flight from France, which landed at the airport on Friday.

The package was destined for a resident in Curepipe, according to sources. The discovery was made by customs officials during routine checks on arriving cargo.

The investigation has been handed over to the anti-drug brigade, which has since arrested a suspect in connection with the case.

The individual is currently in custody, pending further questioning.
