Dengue Cases Double in 1 Week, Stay Alert!

As the Ministry of Health urges the public to be extra vigilant against leptospirosis, another disease continues to escalate in Mauritius.

According to a statement released by the ministry yesterday, the number of active dengue cases seems to have doubled in just one week.

On April 30th, Mauritius had 297 active dengue cases. However, by May 7th, this number had risen to 435, bringing the total to 5,458 cases since December 11th last year.

It is important to note that a 70-year-old woman with underlying health conditions has also died in a private clinic.

In Rodrigues, on April 30th, the island had 125 active dengue cases. However, by May 7th, this number had decreased to 98, indicating a decline in cases.
