The peaceful daily routine of several families living in Médine was disrupted on Monday, April 22nd.

The police and a court bailiff showed up to inform them that they had to evacuate the premises following an eviction order.

Tensions rose between the occupants of the land and the SSU, with reports of the use of force by the authorities.

One of the victims expressed dismay over the timing of the eviction, questioning why action was being taken today when many institutions are still not fully operational due to the heavy rain that hit the country on Sunday.

“Today not even offices are open. We could have at least known what steps we could take,” the residents said.

According to l’Express, even though the court is not fully operational, the bailiff can still enforce the eviction order.

If the victims wish to challenge the decision through a lawyer, they can inform the court manager. “These matters can be heard remotely,” the newspaper pointed out.
