Windy Weather: Anticyclone Brings 70 km/h Gusts to Mauritius

A strong anticyclone to the southwest of the Mascarene Islands is bringing windy and relatively cold weather to the region, according to the weather station’s bulletin issued this Wednesday.

The weather will be partially cloudy this morning and in the afternoon with occasional showers on the East and South slopes and in the higher elevations. Elsewhere, the weather will be sunny.

The maximum temperature will be slightly below average, ranging between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius on the coast.

Clouds coming from the South will bring passing showers during the night mostly in the southern half of the island and on the central plateau.

The minimum temperature will range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius in coastal regions.

The wind is blowing from the southeast at 20 to 30 km/h with gusts up to 70 km/h in exposed areas. The sea is rough beyond the reefs with southwest swells reaching around 3 meters.

Outings at sea, as well as in the lagoons on the West, South, and East coasts, are not recommended.
