Heavy Rain Alert: Stormy Weather Until Friday 4am

A Heavy Rain Alert is in effect in Mauritius until 4am on Friday, April 5, 2024.

According to the weather station’s bulletin issued at 9am on Thursday, active clouds associated with a zone of instability are approaching the region from the west.

Moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorms are being observed to the West and the South. 

These showers are expected to spread over the island mainly  over the Central Plateau, leading to water accumulation in certain regions.

The visibility will be reduced in fog and showers in certain regions.

The public is advised to:
1. remain in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees
during thunderstorms.
2. avoid places prone to water accumulation.
3. be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility.
