Opposition Concerned with "E-Health" Contract and Petit-Gamin Racecourse

Two members of the Labour Party (PTr) have raised concerns regarding the E-Health contract granted by the Ministry of Health.

Farhad Aumeer is seeking information on when the contract was awarded and wants to know the list of bidders involved in the bidding process.

He also wants to know when the Ministry authorized the Accountant-General Office to pay a security office to the United Nations Development Programme.

Fabrice David is also interested in the list of bidders and wants Minister Kailesh Jagutpal to disclose the contract amount.

Secretary General of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), Rajesh Bhagwan, is seeking clarification from Minister Renganaden Padayachy on the operational status of the Petit-Gamin racecourse and if the Horse Racing Division has inspected the site.

His colleague, Franco Quirin, is also concerned about the racecourse and wants to know if the Gambling Regulatory Authority granted a permit to hold horse races at Petit-Gamin.

He also wants to know how many race days have been approved.

Furthermore, cases of child abuse will be addressed in parliament. MP Arianne Navarre-Marie will question Minister Kalpana Koonjoo-Shah on the increasing number of child prostitution cases.

Stephanie Anquetil will ask the Minister if a government official was present during the abuse of a four-year-old by a Nepalese individual.

On the same issue, Richard Duval wants to know if a police investigation has been initiated, how long the suspect has been in the country, and if there are any other cases involving the suspect.

The dengue fever outbreak is another topic of discussion. Karen Foo Kune-Bacha will inquire about the number of dengue cases and deaths from 2019 to March 2024.

Ranjiv Woochit will seek information on hospital admissions, dengue-related deaths, and government measures to contain the spread of the disease.

Deven Nagalingum will bring up the issue of land initially designated for a Tamil cultural center.

Patrick Assirvaden and Joanna Bérenger will revisit the CorexSolar project, questioning the latest Power Purchase Agreement signed between the CEB board and CorexSolar International (Mauritius) Ltd, as well as legal fees paid by the CEB.

On the financial front, Aadil Ameer Meea will focus on public sector debt and the demolition of the Kentucky Fried Chicken building in Port Louis.

Osman Mohamed will question Minister Steven Obeegadoo on the location identified by the New Social Living Development Ltd for social housing construction that was flooded during cyclone Belal.

He will also inquire about private lawyers engaged by the police commissioner in court cases.

Khushal Lobine will address issues faced by farmers, inquiring about thefts and damages, as well as the Police and Criminal Justice Bill.

Ehsan Juman will bring attention to an incident involving Minister Anjiv Ramdhany and a staff member, as well as an altercation between members of Linion Moris and supporters of the Socialist Militant Movement in Rivière-du-Rempart.

Nando Bodha will question the quantity and origins of imported cigarettes since January 2023, along with the tax revenue generated. Michael Sik Yuen will address drainage issues in the Ramalingum area of Curepipe.
