A manhunt has been launched for a fuel distribution company truck suspected of being involved in a hit and run incident in New-Grove yesterday, Thursday 1 February.

While travelling along the highway, the vehicle is believed to have collided with a motorcyclist who was already on the ground near Landscope Mauritius on the southbound side of the highway.

The truck continued on its way, leaving the seriously injured victim behind.

Brandon Arnapen, a 20-year-old motorcyclist, was evacuated and taken to Rose-Belle hospital, where he was placed in the intensive care unit under artificial respiration after extensive surgery.

Concerns about his health are high. According to an eyewitness, the motorcycle appears to have skidded and the rider was thrown to the ground.

At that moment, the truck allegedly ran over him before continuing towards Plaine-Magnien. The Rose-Belle police have taken over the investigation.
