Cyclone Candice: Mauritius on Alert as Another Threat Approaches

The Mauritius Meteorological Services have warned that Mauritius faces a new cyclonic threat, as a cyclonic formation is expected to approach the island in the middle of next week.

While there are still uncertainties about the trajectory of cyclone Candice, numerical trends suggest it may pass between Mauritius and Rodrigues.

Several depressions are developing within the monsoon trough to the north of Rodrigues, which is likely to result in a tropical depression forming by Sunday or Monday.

Unstable atmospheric conditions are expected to bring heavy rainfall to Rodrigues.

It is too early to predict the trajectory and intensity of the cyclonic system, but Rodrigues is at the greatest risk as it passes to the west of the island.

The monsoon clouds are typically accompanied by heavy rain, according to the meteorology department.

There are still uncertainties regarding the track and intensity of the system, and the outlook will be updated tomorrow.
