The Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association (AMCCA) is urging the resignation of those responsible for the disorderly conditions at the airport. The association expresses deep concern about the deteriorating working conditions and chaos faced by Air Mauritius Ltd (MK) staff.

They urgently call on MK management to prioritize creating a safer and healthier environment for both staff and passengers. The AMCCA criticizes the current situation, citing ongoing mismanagement, delayed decision-making, and a lack of communication with staff.

Consequently, they demand accountability and the resignation of those responsible. The AMCCA raises concerns after disruptions caused by flight delays, cancellations, technical issues, and a cyclone, deeming the current state of affairs unacceptable. They attribute growing passenger frustration and anger, risking staff safety, to ineffective communication.

The union highlights the lack of transparency in providing information about delays and rescheduled flights, leading to mounting frustration among both passengers and staff. This exacerbates an already stressful atmosphere. Throughout 2023, the AMCCA consistently expressed concerns and sought dialogue with management to propose practical solutions.

However, the company’s leadership showed no willingness to engage constructively. The AMCCA criticizes management for allowing the situation to escalate to the point where passengers openly protest against employees, reflecting a lack of proactive management and failure to have contingency plans.

Nevertheless, the AMCCA commends its members for delivering satisfactory service to passengers, even when understaffed, often sacrificing rest days during the busiest time of the year to ensure all flights operate.
